Logan loves to copy his sister, who is very good at hopscotch, so quite often he asks us to pull it out and he gets busy practicing!
Today was Malina’s first day of her second year of pre-school. She is in a great classroom this year with 2 of her best friends and her favorite teacher, Dara, from last year :) The drop off was smooth, there were no tears (from Malina or me). At pick up she was all smiles and chatting about how much she enjoyed the day (well, half day, preschool is only 4 hours). Her preschool is a Reggio Emilia program, which we love, and we will learn more about the focus for the year next week.

Along with two other families, we trekked up to Geyserville (part of the greater Napa area) for a day at the Francis Ford Coppola pool! In many ways, it was very kid friendly: a huge pool, a great food menu, and best of all … cabeens for napping toddlers and wine for the adults!

I have known Jen since we were 14 and she has always been an amazing friend. As she does at least once a year, she made her annual trek down to SF to hang out with us! Now that Leigh Ann has become a local, she was able to hang out as well. We had a wonderful weekend and even managed to get away for a Lobster feed up in Sterling.

As part of a preschool fundraiser, Chuck and I attend a silent auction event. We bid for, and won, a boat ride on the Bay for ourselves and 8 friends. We ended up selecting a beautiful day and enjoying a wonderful morning with friends.

We spent the 4th of July holiday week in Sequoia National Park! It was a last minute decision so our only lodging option was in a town called Squaw Valley, about 30 minutes outside of the park, which made for a lot of driving each day. The kids did a great job with all the car time (iPad saved us) and the super hot weather (upper 90’s). Malina and Logan both enjoyed all the beautiful scenery; from the huge trees to the clear streams and frothy waterfalls. Malina did a great job hiking, she has strong legs and amazing endurance. Logan would have loved to walk, but he spent most of his time in the backpack, and was a good sport about it. The highlights were probably a warm swim in Hume Lake and seeing General Sherman, the biggest tree in the WORLD (36 feet in diameter)!

Logan has several words: Mama, Dada, Sandra, shoe, book, mine, and bye … but the cutest word he says right now is bayyyybeeeeee. I can’t get enough of it :)
