Since I did a lousy job of making plans for Chuck’s birthday last year, I decided to go all out this year! I planned for our nanny to stay all day so we could have the entire day/night “off”. I organized a day-trip up to Sonoma for the Vintage Wine Fest with Chuck and a few other friends. However, Chuck ended up having to work all day, so we went without him :(
Long time friends Chuck and Eric are one day apart in age and we decided to celebrate their birthday dinner together this year. We had a great meal at Limon Rotisserie and then headed over to the roof-top bar at Medjool for more drinks. There was a huge Jersey Shore costume party going on when we got there – hilarious!! Unfortunately I had to go home early so I only snapped one photo at the bar.

Our wonderful friends Megan and Brian got married over the weekend in Calistoga. The wedding ceremony and reception were both held at Hans Faden vineyard, which was located in a beautiful and rather remote area just off Petrified Forest Road. What made this wedding very fun and unique was that dinner was served in a huge cave!

Labor Day Weekend was our 5-year wedding anniversary. We celebrated Friday night by going out for drinks and dinner without Malina. It was a really nice evening and went by too quickly! Saturday we went to an Art Festival in Sausalito that had 80’s bands. We missed most of the art, but it was nice to hear the Bangles while fighting over Legos in the toddler corner! Sunday we took a nice hike up north amongst the redwoods! It was the first time that Malina wanted to walk during the hike, she stepped over roots and rocks while holding Jessica’s hand. But after about 200 yards she was tired out and ready for her 360 degree view from the pack.
Of course no album is complete without a few more pictures from our favorite tot spot … Bay Area Discovery Museum. This time we went with Janine and Violet!!

When Chuck gets a few hours off of work (read: weekend) we try our best to get outdoors. We usually drive north and take a hike, but when time is limited we find a beautiful area to take an urban walk. This past weekend we walked through the amazing homes of Sea Cliff and down to Baker Beach, along with friend Hillary.
I also put Malina’s very first bikini (thank you Bigelows) on her to make sure it fits for our upcoming trip. She was a bit perplexed at first and looked adorable!!

Check out the attached video of Malina feeding her bear. She came up with this idea on her own!
Recently, whenever Chuck has had a weekend day off work, we’ve tried to explore a different set of old stairs somewhere in the city. Last weekend we hiked the stairs from the Embarcadero to the top of Coit Tower. It was a beautiful day.
We have also been taking full advantage of our Bay Area Discovery Museum membership! Malina and TJ recently had a play date there and thoroughly enjoyed the stream!
